John Carpenter, one of the most influential horror filmmakers and composers.
Carpenter was born in New York City, into a creative family, with his father being a classically trained violinist and the head of the music department at Western Kentucky University. This heavily inspired his future career in music composition.
After attending both Western Kentucky University and University of Southern California, he went on to direct classic films such as ‘The Thing’ and ‘Halloween’. While creating Halloween he also assisted writing the screenplay as well as composing his own soundtrack for the entire film.
John Carpenter’s influence in the horror film scene left an impressionable mark, allowing for prequels, remakes and most notably the ‘Halloween Franchise’.
He didn’t think he would act.
