More About Cinema History

Cinema history is the study of the development of filmmaking, film technology, major movements, influential directors and the evolution of movies from the late 19th century to the present day.
The invention of cinema is generally credited to several pioneers, most notably the Lumière brothers, who held one of the first public film screenings in 1895, alongside innovators including Thomas Edison, William Kennedy Laurie Dickson and Georges Méliès.
Among the most influential film movements are German Expressionism, Soviet Montage, Italian Neorealism, the French New Wave, New Hollywood and the various waves of independent and international cinema that have shaped modern filmmaking.
