Phil Spector was an American record producer, songwriter and musician whose pioneering studio techniques transformed popular music during the 1960s.
Best known for developing the influential “Wall of Sound” production style, Spector created densely layered recordings for artists including the Ronettes, the Crystals, the Righteous Brothers and Ike & Tina Turner. His work on classics such as ‘Be My Baby’, ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” and ‘River Deep – Mountain High’ established him as one of the most innovative producers in music history.
He later produced albums for the Beatles, John Lennon, George Harrison and Leonard Cohen. Despite his immense artistic influence, Spector’s legacy has been overshadowed by his 2009 conviction for the 2003 murder of actor Lana Clarkson. He died in prison in 2021.
