“Not to write, no.”

John Waters is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, actor, author and visual artist renowned for his provocative, subversive and darkly comic films.
Emerging from Baltimore’s underground film scene in the early 1970s, Waters became known as the “Pope of Trash” through cult classics including ‘Pink Flamingos’, ‘Female Trouble’ and ‘Desperate Living’, many of which starred his longtime collaborator Divine. He later achieved mainstream success with films including ‘Hairspray’, ‘Cry-Baby’, ‘Serial Mom’ and ‘Pecker’, while retaining his distinctive satirical voice.
Celebrated for challenging social norms through camp, transgressive humour and outsider characters, Waters remains one of the most influential independent filmmakers in American cinema.
