Hayley Williams releases two new singles through Power Snatch moniker
Hayley Williams has released two new singles with London artist Tiberius B through her collaborative project, Power Snatch, with long-time collaborator Daniel James.
Williams and James officially announced the band in January via a joint show for Apple Music 1. Now, following up on their debut EP, EP1, the duo has released two songs, titled ‘Training’ and ‘Great’.
On ‘Training’, the outfit loop a killer guitar riff and a dauntless drum-beat for a catchy, rocky single reminiscent of Paramore’s earlier works, such as 2009’s Brand New Eyes. “I need training like an animal. Am I worth it? Am I lovable?” Hayley and Tiberius sing together, reaching a near-scream with each repetition.
On the second track, ‘Great’, Power Snatch and Tiberius b experiment more within an electronic field, expanding on the animalistic metaphor when singing, “If we were at a playground, this could be a seesaw / If I were an animal, I’d sound like, ‘Yee-haw’,” amid a wobbly, wonky backdrop, followed up by an R&B-inspired guitar riff.
Williams first shared her support for the queer London-based artist on a Substack, when she shared her favourite songs: Williams, highlighting Tiberius’ track ‘Sugar Rush’. She had also previously shared their track, ‘More’, with the complimentary caption, “Wish I wrote it.”
Tiberius, real name Frank Belcourt, has also appeared on the Grammy Award-winning Barbie soundtrack. He recently performed as one of three support acts at Williams’ London show at the Roundhouse, before Snuggle and Water From Your Eyes.
Williams continues her prolific streak with the recent announcement that she will appear on Beabadoobee’s forthcoming album, Pylon. In recent times, Williams has also collaborated with David Byrne, Failure, American Football, and Turnstile.
Williams and James also collaborated on the Paramore vocalists’ third solo studio release, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. Far Out deemed Williams’ new offering “an incredible hour-long project overflowing with unique lyricism and boundless energy.”
