Faith No More announce co-headline shows with System of a Down in 2027
Faith No More have confirmed their first live shows in a decade, which will see them share a stage with System of a Down in 2027.
Their comeback will take place in Australia and New Zealand, with System of a Down set to headline four stadium shows with Faith No More as their special guests.
The run will begin at the Accor Stadium in Sydney on January 22nd, which will be followed by a date at the Melbourne Stadium on January 27th, the Suncorp Stadium on February 1st in Brisbane, and lastly, the tour will conclude at the Hnry Stadium in Wellington on February 7th.
Last month, Faith No More took to social media on June 16th to tease their live return, sharing an image of a crowd with the date “2027” in large writing over the photo.
The band’s bassist Billy Gould then let the cat out of the bag while appearing on the Rock Talk podcast, removing the mystery and confirming that 2027 would be the year they finally return to the stage.
“We’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play. We’re definitely going to be in Europe. We’re definitely going to be in South America, and Australia, and the US,” he explained.
He also shared, “I think probably our shows will start around like January or February next year,” which all but confirms that their show in Sydney will be their first concert.
The news comes after Faith No More were due to hit the road in 2020 for the first time in four years following a hiatus. However, the run of dates was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and never rescheduled once restrictions were lifted.
Only earlier this year, frontman Mike Patton suggested they would never return when he said their last tour in 2016 had an air of finality to it, sharing, “I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.”
The frontman continued, “And it’s funny, just when you’ve been in a band or a musical situation for a period of time, you always, in the back of your head, you’re kind of thinking, ‘Well, maybe this is it.’ And I don’t mind that feeling.”
General sale for the forthcoming Australia and New Zealand tour will take place on July 31, following an artist pre-sale on July 28th.
