Mike Patton seemingly confirms Faith No More will never return

Faith No More frontman Mike Patton has seemingly confirmed that the band are finished for good.

The rock band were due to hit the road in 2020 for the first time in four years following a hiatus. However, the run of dates was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and never occurred.

In 2021, Patton cited mental health issues as the reason why the concerts would not be rescheduled, explaining to fans, “I have issues that were exacerbated by the pandemic that are challenging me right now. I don’t feel I can give what I should at this point and I am not going to give anything less than 100 per cent.”

Now, he has explained in a new interview with Kyle Meredith With that their last tour in 2016 had an air of finality to it, sharing (via The PRP), “I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.”

Patton continued, “And it’s funny, just when you’ve been in a band or a musical situation for a period of time, you always, in the back of your head, you’re kind of thinking, ‘Well, maybe this is it.’ And I don’t mind that feeling.”

He then revealed his personal feelings on the situation, adding, “I don’t see it as a sad thing. I see it as being present and being able to really appreciate it while it’s happening.”

Patton, who is also the frontman of Mr Bungle and has played in a whole host of other bands, then stated that he never viewed Faith No More as his “main” project, explaining, “There were projects like Faith No More where I spent more time on, in terms of touring and promoting, quote-unquote, if you will, but everything that I’ve done was of equal importance to me.”

His latest comments come after drummer Mike Bordin addressed their situation last year, saying of cancelling the shows in 2021, “We made the decision that, ‘Look, we’ve gotta support our guy. It wasn’t even an argument.”

However, Bordin was seemingly unimpressed when Patton returned to the stage with Mr Bungle, admitting, “It doesn’t feel great to me. It honestly kind of hurts my feelings a little bit, but that’s personal. That’s a private thing.”
