Faith No More bassist confirms band’s 2027 reunion tour: “We’re gonna do it”
Faith No More bassist Bill Gould has confirmed the band’s plans for a reunion tour after they teased an unexpected live return on social media.
Taking to social media on June 16th, the American rock band sent their fanbase into a frenzy when updating their logo, alongside an an image of a crowd with the date “2027” in writing over the photo.
Now, Gould has given more details while chatting on the newly launched podcast, Rock Talk.
When asked about the possibility of a reunion, the musician confirmed happily, “Yeah, we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play. Yeah, we’re gonna do it.”
He continued, “Our music is very physical, and a big concern is, like, pretty soon we’re not gonna be able to do this the way we wrote it. We wrote it as 20-year-olds and it’s always been very physical. It has to be that way. I can’t play the song if I’m not like that, honestly. With my bass parts, I just can’t do it.”
Despite the demanding live performances, the group decided that they are up to the challenge: “But we all kind of decided, like, we think we can do it. I think that we can do it for a few more years, and we can do it the right way, so we’re gonna give it a go.”
Notably, Faith No More were due to hit the road in 2020 for the first time in four years following a hiatus. However, the run of dates was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Additionally, an array of comments have been made in the past few years which made it seemingly impossible that the band would get back together again.
Notably, frontman Mike Patton shared with Kyle Meredith With… earlier this year that their last tour in 2016 had an air of finality to it, sharing, “I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.”
As for never stepping out in the limelight as a band together again, he mused at the time, “I don’t see it as a sad thing. I see it as being present and being able to really appreciate it while it’s happening.”
Now, the bassist has confirmed that fans can disregard Patton’s uncertainty and expect more announcements in the imminent future.
