Faith No More appear to tease 2027 reunion
Faith No More appear to be teasing an unexpected live return in 2027.
Taking to social media on June 16th, the American rock band sent their fanbase into a frenzy by simply updating their logo and sharing an image of a crowd with the date “2027” in large writing over the photo, suggesting a tour is on the cards.
It has now been a decade since Faith No More performed together, and it seemed unlikely, prior to today, that would change anytime soon.
Notably, Faith No More were due to hit the road in 2020 for the first time in four years following a hiatus. However, the run of dates was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and never rescheduled once restrictions were lifted.
In 2021, frontman Mike Patton cited mental health issues as the reason why the concerts would not be rescheduled, explaining to fans, “I have issues that were exacerbated by the pandemic that are challenging me right now.”
He added, “I don’t feel I can give what I should at this point and I am not going to give anything less than 100 per cent.”
Drummer Mike Bordin addressed the situation last year, saying of cancelling the shows in 2021, “We made the decision that, ‘Look, we’ve gotta support our guy. It wasn’t even an argument.”
However, Bordin was unimpressed when Patton returned to the stage with his other band Mr Bungle, admitting, “It doesn’t feel great to me. It honestly kind of hurts my feelings a little bit, but that’s personal. That’s a private thing.”
Then, seemingly the final nail in the coffin regarding the chances of a Faith No More reunion was planted by Patton earlier this year, when he told Kyle Meredith With that their last tour in 2016 had an air of finality to it, sharing, “I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.”
The frontman continued, “And it’s funny, just when you’ve been in a band or a musical situation for a period of time, you always, in the back of your head, you’re kind of thinking, ‘Well, maybe this is it.’ And I don’t mind that feeling.”
He also explained why he was content with the idea of not stepping foot on-stage with Faith No More ever again, adding, “I don’t see it as a sad thing. I see it as being present and being able to really appreciate it while it’s happening.”
As much as these comments suggested that Faith No More would never go back, their latest activity suggests otherwise.
At this stage, fans will have to wait and see precisely what Faith No More are teasing, but something appears to be cooking.
Patton’s schedule will see him tour North America with Tomahawk this summer, but his 2027 calendar appears to be free currently, suggesting that he has the time to hit the road with Faith No More.
