Walton Goggins becomes an honorary member of The Strokes in new video for ‘Going Shopping’
The Strokes have recruited Walton Goggins for the new video for their recent single, ‘Going Shopping’.
The whimsical video, which is directed by Johann Rashid, sees Goggins and frontman Julian Casablancas dance throughout, but is also littered with vital messages throughout which flash on the screen.
These messages include “Beware unchecked power,” “Workers on strike! (but alas, the news won’t show it)”, and “Oh glory! We’ve kicked them out.”
For his part, Goggins looks like he’s having an absolute ball in the video, and even Casablancas seemed to be taking pleasure in showing off his less serious side.
Goggins, filled with glee, took to Instagram to share his joy at starring in a music video for The Strokes, writing alongside a clip from the new visuals, “THE FUCKING STROKES!!! Video for the first release off their new album, ‘GOING SHOPPING’.”
The White Lotus star added, “Never had the audacity to put something like this on my bucket list… I’ve been listening to Reality Awaits since March..It’s so gatdamn special y’all.”
He continued, “Thank you fellas… Jules, Fab, Albert, Nikolai and Johann for this invitation. Days I will never forget! New Friends. Can’t wait to see you on the road gents! I’ll be singing my ass off in whatever seat I can get.”
The video for ‘Going Shopping’ arrives shortly after The Strokes delayed the release of their first album in six years, Reality Awaits, which was set to be released on June 26th, but will now arrive on July 24th.
In anticipation of the new album, The Strokes began a headline tour of North America earlier this month, which has so far seen them visit Clarkston, Chicago, Cuyahoga Falls, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, and Columbia.
Following a short break, the tour is set to resume on July 12th in Richmond, Virginia. The long run will close with a huge homecoming show at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in New York on October 2nd, with support coming from Beach House, TV on the Radio and Fcukers.
Then, at the end of their North American tour at Flushing Meadows, they will kick off the European leg at The O2 in London on October 6th, which will be followed by dates in Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Bologna, Barcelona, Paris, Newcastle, Manchester, and Dublin.
