Ticketless Oasis fans banned from standing outside Wembley Stadium shows
Oasis fans hoping to listen to the iconic band perform outside Wembley Stadium for free will not be permitted to do so.
During their triumphant five homecoming shows at Heaton Park in Manchester, Oasis fans, who missed out on tickets, congregated outside the park at ‘Gallagher Hill’ to listen to their performances, with thousands gathering for each concert.
For the first two of the five shows, Oasis fans on ‘Gallagher Hill’ were able to view the stage; however, Manchester City Council intervened to erect a huge fence as a safety precaution, but it didn’t stop fans from gathering.
During the last two performances, Liam Gallagher dedicated ‘Bring It On Down’ to “the folk on the hill”, and on the final night, Oasis delivered 1,000 limited-edition ‘Gallagher Hill’ t-shirts to lucky fans.
However, this won’t occur for their Wembley Stadium shows. A press officer for the venue directed Far Out to a statement on their website on the matter, which reads: “To support with the safe entry and exit of everyone within the stadium, no one is allowed to stand outside any entrance or on the Olympic Steps at the front of the stadium. Non-ticket holders will be moved on.”
This rule was also in place last year for Taylor Swift’s concerts at the home of English football during the Era’s tour.
Wembley Stadium ramped up security efforts following the Euro Final in 2021, which saw 2,000 ticketless fans illegally enter the stadium. A report by. Baroness Casey described these people as “ticketless, drunken and drugged-up thugs” and said it was a “collective failure”.
The Oasis reunion tour will complete a seven-date residency at Wembley Stadium. They will play on July 25th, July 26th, July 30th, August 2nd, and August 3rd. Once they return from North America, Oasis will play two further shows at Wembley Stadium in late September.
At their most recent Manchester show, Liam humorously addressed the cheating scandal involving tech CEO Andy Byron and Astronomer’s Head of HR, Kristin Cabot, by telling fans ahead of performing ‘Slide Away’: “Right then, do we have any lovebirds in the house? Don’t worry, we don’t have any of that Coldplay snidey fucking camera shit.”
Gallagher added: “It doesn’t matter to us who you’re fucking mingling with, tinkering with, fingering with. None of our fucking business. This one is for the lovebirds, anyway.”
