The Kinks to open new ‘Brothers’ exhibition in London
The Kinks‘ Ray and Dave Davies are set to open a new exhibition, called Brothers, in London.
The exhibition, which has seen them team up with painter Christian Furr, will be shown at the Gibson Garage in the capital between July 24th and September 6th, 2026.
For the exhibition, Furr has reimagined an iconic shoot in 1968 that saw the Davies brothers cram into a photobooth in East Finchley as a new series of paintings
Dave Davies reflected, “It was a magic moment when we crammed into the photobooth all those years ago. Christian Furr has done a wonderful job in developing the image into special artworks. We hope people love these as much as we do.”
Meanwhile, his brother Ray added of the exhibition, “Over the years it’s been amazing to see creative people take our music and make something of their own. Christian Furr has done just that.”
On a personal level, Ray is also happy to be back working alongside his brother once again, sentimentally sharing, “It’s great to be doing something new with Dave, and seeing these paintings and the original passport photobooth picture again brings back a lot of memories.”
Additionally, Furr opened up about his creative process for the project, explaining, “I was thinking about Matisse, punk, pop art, luminosity, and keeping that colour as bright as possible, because that to me is what I see when I listen to The Kinks.”
Every painting in the exhibition is also signed by the Davies brothers and Furr. Furthermore, a series of limited-edition prints will be made available for £195.
Previously, in 2022, Dave stated he hoped that The Kinks would reunite, sharing, “Ray and I have spoken about it – it’s possible!”
While they are not back on a stage together, the Brothers exhibition still sees the pair of British music legends back on the same page and working together on a new project.
