Willie Nelson was born to Ira Doyle Nelson and Myrle Marie Nelson in Abbott, Texas. After his parents separated, he and his sister, Bobbie Nelson, were raised by their paternal grandparents, who encouraged both children to pursue music. Bobbie became a longtime member of Willie's touring band until her death in 2022. Nelson has been married four times and has eight children, including musicians Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, who have both established successful music careers.
