Chess Records: A brief history of Chicago’s legendary blues label
From Muddy Waters to Chuck Berry to Etta James.

The Yardbirds were an English rock band formed in London in 1963 whose pioneering blend of blues rock, psychedelic rock and early hard rock made them one of the most influential groups of the British Invasion.
Originally fronted by vocalist Keith Relf, the band became famous for featuring three of rock’s greatest guitarists in succession—Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Throughout the 1960s, The Yardbirds released influential singles including ‘For Your Love’, ‘Heart Full of Soul’, ‘Shapes of Things’ and ‘Over Under Sideways Down’, helping to bridge the gap between blues, psychedelia and heavy rock.
Although they disbanded in 1968, the group’s legacy endures through their groundbreaking recordings and their profound influence on the development of rock music.
