Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band whose melodic songwriting and emotionally honest lyrics helped shape the sound of British punk and pop-punk. Formed in Bolton in 1976 by Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto, the group emerged from the first wave of UK punk alongside the Sex Pistols and The Clash.
Following Devoto’s departure, Shelley became the band’s principal songwriter, leading Buzzcocks through a string of influential singles and acclaimed albums that blended punk’s energy with irresistible pop hooks. Songs such as ‘Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)’ and ‘What Do I Get?’ remain genre-defining classics.
Despite periods of inactivity, Buzzcocks have continued to tour and record, leaving an enduring legacy that has inspired generations of alternative and punk musicians.
