My New Band Believe – ‘My New Band Believe’ album review: A debut that thrives on chaos
A maximalist approach.

Black Midi were an English experimental rock band formed in London in 2017. Emerging from the city’s vibrant Windmill scene, the quartet quickly gained a reputation for their virtuosic musicianship, unpredictable song structures and boundary-pushing blend of experimental rock, post-rock, progressive rock, math rock, jazz fusion and noise rock.
Their acclaimed debut album, Schlagenheim, established them as one of Britain’s most exciting new bands, while Cavalcade and Hellfire expanded their sound with influences ranging from avant-garde jazz to cabaret and classical music.
Though the band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2024, Black Midi remain one of the defining experimental rock acts of the 2020s.
A maximalist approach.
The band’s album will be released on April 10th.
“You’re always gonna be with me.”
“Please take a moment to check in with your loved ones”.
Unplayable, unlistenable, unfathomable.
