Steven Knight provides update on “phenomenal” new Oasis documentary
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has provided a promising new update on the upcoming behind-the-scenes documentary on Oasis‘ reunion tour.
Knight is producing the documentary. Meanwhile, Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, who previously directed LCD Soundsystem’s Shut Up and Play the Hits and Meet the Bathroom, are on directorial duties.
Details surrounding the project have remained incredibly thin on the ground, but cameras did follow the legendary band as they prepared to make their comeback, as well as during their Oasis Live ’25 tour across the world.
Now, in a new interview with Project Big Screen, Knight has lifted the lid on where they currently are in the process, sharing, “It’s phenomenal. We’ve got it down to four hours, so we’ve gotta get it down to (a shorter running time).”
He also confirmed that there is a clear narrative that runs through the film, adding, “But it’s a documentary with a plot, do you know what I mean? It’s actually got a story. And then we’ve expanded it. You’ll see when you see it.”
Knight added of the process of making the film, “It’s been great, and they’re great. I interviewed (Liam and Noel) and they’re just one quote after another. They’re just so funny.”
Last month, after he was awarded ‘Songwriter of the Year’ at the Brit Awards, Noel discussed the upcoming film during a backstage interview and shared his excitement in relation to the documentary.
The Oasis guitarist shared, “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets.”
Noel continued, “Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”
As it stands, there is no current release date set for the untitled documentary, which is expected to arrive in 2026.
