Peggy Gallagher claims she was “instigator” of Oasis reunion
Peggy Gallagher, the mother of Liam and Noel Gallagher, has claimed she was the “instigator” of the upcoming Oasis reunion.
Following 16 years away, Oasis are set to reunite on July 4th at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, a venue they will also play on July 5th. This summer, they will then play multiple nights at Wembley Stadium in London, Heaton Park in Manchester, Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Croke Park in Dublin.
After their UK run concludes, Oasis will head to North America for a series of stadium dates, and later this year, they will head to Latin America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
Now, for the first time since their reunion was announced, Peggy has spoken about her two sons reuniting. She said in a new interview with Ireland’s Mail on Sunday: “I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn’t it always going to happen at some time or other?”
However, she also conceded that Liam and Noel are their own people, therefore, ultimately, it was their call, adding, “It was their choice, of course. Look you can’t force them to do things they don’t want to do.”
Peggy then shared her joy about the upcoming reunion between her two sons: “It’s great, because nobody wants their kids falling out, do they?” Nevertheless, Peggy is somewhat nervous, stating, “I’ll be glad when it’s all just over because it makes me get too stressed.”
The 82-year-old then said that she is hoping to attend one of the concerts at Croke Park in Dublin but admitted it’s dependent on her mobility following a recent knee operation, sharing, “I’m hoping to get to the Oasis concert in Dublin in August if I can hobble around.”
Last week, Liam and Noel appeared together on-screen for the first time since the reunion was announced to launch the band’s new Adidas range.
To kickstart the campaign, Adidas broadcast a three-minute advert on Channel 4 at 9pm on June 19th, which was soundtracked by ‘Live Forever’ and featured iconic footage of Oasis over the years before culminating with a powerful shot of Liam and Noel standing side-by-side.
