Noel Gallagher admits he was “taken aback” by demand for Oasis reunion
With less than 100 days until Oasis makes their first live appearance in more than 15 years, Noel Gallagher has finally addressed their reunion.
Since it was confirmed last August, Gallagher has kept a low profile and refrained from making any public statements regarding Oasis’ return. Instead, his media appearances have been restricted to discussing his football club, Manchester City, on TNT Sports and TalkSPORT.
However, Gallagher has now given an interview to photographer Kevin Cummins for his new book, Oasis: The Masterplan.
Over ten million people from across the globe attempted to buy tickets for the initial run of Oasis tour dates for the United Kingdom. While Gallagher anticipated that demand would be incredibly high, he was surprised by the scale of interest.
“I thought it’d be a big deal, but I was a bit taken aback by just how much of a big deal it was,” Gallagher revealed to Cummins.
In the same interview, when asked about his favourite Oasis songs, Gallagher responded, “Can I have more than one? ‘Supersonic’, ‘Some Might Say’, ‘Live Forever’ and ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Star’.”
Earlier this month, Liam Gallagher appeared to confirm the full line-up for the new iteration of Oasis ahead of their upcoming reunion, which begins in July.
In response to an NME report that claimed Andy Bell, Gem Archer, and Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs would all be returning to Oasis with drummer Joey Waronker completing the list of members, the frontman wrote on X: “It’s not the lineup reveal I’m bothered about I’ll reveal that to you in a minute I’m more bothered about the line where it says a source close to the band and tour that really causes me a great deal of concern LG x”.
The legendary band also recently confirmed Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight is making a new film in conjunction with the upcoming tour. Although Knight is creating and producing the project, it will be directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace.
At this stage, no release date has been given for the as-yet-untitled film, and no further details have been issued regarding the content of the movie, which will be revealed at a later date.
