Paul Gallagher, the older brother of Oasis’ Liam and Noel Gallagher, has been charged with rape and a number of other violent sexual offences.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the 59-year-old has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was charged by Scotland Yard after an investigation was launched into his alleged actions last year. Gallagher is set to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 27th.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the charges in a statement that said: “Paul Gallagher, 59, of Manor Park Road, East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.”
The statement added: “The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022 and 2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.”
The charges come at the height of his younger brothers’ highly anticipated reunion tour. They are currently in the middle of a stint at Wembley Stadium in London, before moving on to a string of dates in Edinburgh and Dublin next month.
Gallagher, who is one year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam, has never been involved in the Britpop band but has worked in various roles connected to the music industry over the years, including as a DJ and photographer.
Gallagher has not yet made any public statement regarding the charges. Oasis’ next gig at Wembley Stadium will take place on July 30th.
