Oasis ticket holders receive safety update ahead of Heaton Park concerts
The Safety Advisory Group for Manchester’s Heaton Park has issued a message to ticket holders ahead of Oasis‘ summer homecoming reunion shows.
Oasis are set to begin their reunion tour in Cardiff at the Principality Stadium on July 4th. The Gallagher brothers will later play four sold-out shows at the 80,000 capacity Heaton Park between July 11th and July 20th with Richard Ashcroft and Cast.
Unlike the rest of the shows in the UK and Ireland, Heaton Park isn’t a stadium but an outdoor, all-standing venue. Therefore, promoters have split the park into two areas for safety reasons, and ticket-holders have now been instructed to apply for front standing, if they wish to be closer to the stage.
An email sent to ticket holders reads: “The Safety Advisory Group for the Heaton Park shows have divided the concert arena into two areas: a general admission area and a front standing area, each with a dedicated ticket and entry gate issued in advance.”
They then explained this decision has been made “to ensure fan safety and improve the fan experience whilst entering the site.”
The email continued: “All general admission ticketholders are being given the opportunity to opt-in to gain access to the front standing area. If the number of opt-in requests exceeds availability, tickets will be allocated at random from the pool of applicants.”
Fans have until 12:00pm on May 30th to opt in to the scheme via a link that has been sent to them through email. “Once the opt-in window closes, you’ll receive a follow-up notification no later than 20th June confirming your allocated area and gate entry information,” they confirmed.
The message also noted: “Please note that opting in applies to your whole order (you can’t split up tickets). If you’re happy to stay in the general admission area, you don’t need to do anything.”
In a recent update on the upcoming tour, Noel Gallagher appeared on TalkSPORT in April to share an insight into Oasis’ preparation. He said, “I’m in the studio just noodling around. We’re getting ready for rehearsals to start now in about three weeks, and then, yeah, we’ll see what happens.”
