Oasis documentary to premiere at Venice Film Festival: Liam and Noel Gallagher both to attend
The line-up for the Venice Film Festival has been confirmed, which includes the world premiere of Oasis‘ documentary, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger.
The two-hour documentary, which is set to arrive in cinemas on September 9th, promises to tell the full story of their iconic reunion in 2025. It is set to premiere in Venice as a special event screening.
The film, directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, will then start streaming exclusively on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States later this year, following its limited cinematic release.
In a press conference, Venice president Alberto Barbera shared of the film: “The two brothers who have not spoken to each other for 12 years that dissolved one of the most famous rock bands in England at the time, but after so many years they unexpectedly reconcile and they start rehearsing for the formidable world tour that would follow.”
Barbera added, “The film follows the rehearsals and the tour and the impact of the tour on the fans of Oasis, who again can find their idols re-proposing the songs they loved so much, years before.”
He also shared that both Liam and Noel have “promised they will be in Venice” for the premiere in September.
Earlier this month, the first trailer for Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger dropped. In the 46-second clip, viewers find Oasis preparing to stage the mother of all comebacks with Noel conceding, “I just don’t see myself on stage with Liam, I just don’t see it.”
Meanwhile, in another part of the video, which also includes footage of Oasis in rehearsals, Liam reflects on their split in a voiceover, stating, “The way it finished… unacceptable.”
The official synopsis reads, “Alongside the band’s sold-out world tour, the film also explores the profound emotional impact of this phenomenal global cultural moment and what their music means to audiences and generations worldwide.”
In addition to capturing the tour, it includes footage of rehearsals, backstage and onstage access to the band, as well as the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam Gallagher in over 25 years.
The 83rd Venice Film Festival is set to take place between September 2nd and September 12th, 2026, which will also feature a variety of other significant premieres, including Danny Boyle’s Ink, starring Guy Pearce and Jack O’Connell, exploring the rise of Rupert Murdoch’s The Sun newspaper.
Meanwhile, Werner Herzog’s Bucking Fastard, starring Rooney and Kate Mara as twins, will also premiere in Venice, as will Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime, which sees Robert Pattinson take on the role of a journalist forced to confront an underworld of crime as part of an investigation.
