Oasis add further Australia shows to reunion tour
As Oasis prepares their upcoming reunion world tour next year, Australian fans can expect the Manchester act to stick around past their original two shows.
Due to high demand, the Britpop legends have extended their stay by adding to their appearances in Melbourne and Sydney, adding in another date on November 1st at Marvel Stadium and November 8th at Accor Stadium.
This comes after the group first unveiled their initial run of dates on October 8th and announced the tickets going on sale on October 15th. The band have also come off of stretching their schedule for their Live 25 tour for their North American run of shows.
Although Oasis never saw the same degree of success in the US as they did in other parts of the world, the ticket sales for their run of dates have led them to extend their time in North America with another show added to each initial date, with the lone exception of their stop in Chicago.
The group’s initial announcement of playing Australia came when they posted photos of various billboards with the phrase ‘Australia, it’s your shout’. Soon after, a similar message was rolled out in North America, where billboards in Time Square showed the Gallaghers’ press photos with the line ‘Be careful what you wish for’.
The group then unveiled their plans to venture to Australia on X, writing, “People of the land down under. “You better run-you better take cover… We are coming. You are most welcome.”
The next run of dates marks the first time that Oasis have visited the country since 2006, having last performed their in support of their sixth album, Don’t Believe the Truth. The group never performed on the tour for to support in 2009’s Dig Out Your Soul, which concluded with Noel leaving the group after getting a fight with Liam backstage before a show in Paris.
There has also been no word on who will be the support act down under. While alt-rockers Cage the Elephant have been confirmed for the North American tour, it’s is unclear whether they will be joining the Gallaghers in Australia.
Liam has previously said that The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft and Cast will be the opening act for the UK dates, saying on X, “Just spoke to the CHEF here it is OASIS RICHARD ASHCROFT CAST you are welcome see you nxt year I’m of to to identify as a massive cunt LG x”
