Liam Gallagher claims Richard Ashcroft and Cast will support Oasis on reunion tour
Liam Gallagher has claimed that Richard Ashcroft and Cast will be supporting Oasis for their 2025 reunion shows. This comes after heavy fan speculation about who might take to the stage before them, as there are a few prominent contenders for the prized spots.
Writing on X on October 4th, Gallagher said: “Just spoke to the CHEF here it is OASIS RICHARD ASHCROFT CAST you are welcome see you nxt year I’m of to to identify as a massive cunt LG x”
Famously, Liam’s brother, Noel Gallagher, was known by the band and their crew as ‘The Chief’ due to his authority over proceedings. It’s almost certainly that by “the CHEF”, he means ‘The Chief’, his older brother. The post in question came amid a barrage of others discussing potential support acts for next year, wherein he also mentioned Liverpudlians Cast and Welsh outfit Manic Street Preachers.
After writing, “Cast the 1 n only Richard ashcoft and us shit cunts that’s worth 98 grands worth of any bumblebees not so hard earned cash” and earlier, “Only kidding we never set sail without the 1 and only RICARDO he’s our boy from day DOT come aboard Rkid”, Gallagher then posted that Ashcroft and Cast will be warming up the stage for the ‘Live Forever’ group next year.
There is a longstanding connection between Oasis, Richard Ashcroft and his old band, The Verve, who the Mancunians supported during their early period in 1993. Demonstrating this storied closeness, Ashcroft was even the subject of ‘Cast No Shadow’, and after Oasis had become the biggest band in Britain four years later, The Verve supported them for two shows at London’s Earls Court.
Elsewhere, in more recent times, Liam and Ashcroft collaborated on the 2022 single ‘C’mon People (We’re Making It Now)’ and in 2018, when the former headlined Finsbury Park, Ashcroft joined him on the bill as a special guest.
Before October 4th’s X posts, Liam Gallagher had already backed the idea of Ashcroft supporting Oasis in 2025. When asked if the former Verve leader would be appearing by a fan on X on September 13th, he wrote: “That would be BIBLICAL”.

As for Cast, the group were one of the main drivers of the Britpop movement in the 1990s after Oasis and Blur, and although their career tailed off towards the end of the decade, they reformed in 2010, and have been going strong ever since. There’s also substance behind Liam’s claims about them supporting Oasis in 2025, as they were one of the acts to feature at their iconic Knebworth Park shows in 1996, appearing on the Sunday alongside The Charlatans, Kula Shaker, Dreadzone, and significantly, Manic Street Preachers.
Have any support acts been announced for Oasis’s 2025 reunion?
The immense demand for Oasis tickets has also translated to fans on the other side of the Atlantic. Earlier this week, the group announced a run of North American tour dates, with shows in Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Los Angeles, and Mexico City, due to “phenomenal demand.” Alongside the tour announcement, the Britpop legends confirmed that American outfit Cage the Elephant will be supporting them across the run.
The North American tour also differs from its UK and Ireland counterpart through the ticket pricing. Notably, Oasis and Ticketmaster came under fire when the tickets for the shows were sold with dynamic pricing enabled. This meant that for a large portion of fans, the tickets that were originally marketed at a flat price rose to eye-watering levels because of the eye-watering demand. However, the band have explicitly stated that dynamic pricing will not be used for their North American shows.
