Noel Gallagher is writing new songs, but refuses to say whether they are for Oasis

Noel Gallagher has confirmed he’s busy in the studio writing new music, but remained coy on what project he’s working on.

Gallagher made the admission during his latest appearance on TalkSPORT’s DriveTime show, which has now become tradition for him to appear after Manchester City score an important victory.

While the majority of the conversation centred around his beloved football club and their game against Arsenal at the weekend, Gallagher did also provide an update on his current songwriting activities.

“Everything’s great. I’m in the studio noodling away. It’s all good,” Gallagher confirmed to host Andy Goldstein.

He was then probed by Goldstein about precisely “noodling away” means, to which the Oasis icon responded, “Well, you know I’m a musician, I write songs for a living.”

Gallagher then revealed that he is writing new songs, before adding, “That’s what I do.”

Goldstein then directly questioned whether these songs are for Oasis or Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, to which he replied, “I’m just writing songs”.

In a follow-up question, Goldstein said the songs “could be for Oasis”, Gallagher played it smart by responding, “Could be for anybody.”

Back in February, Gallagher first revealed that he was back in the studio, but has not divulged exactly what he’s currently working on and kept his cards close to his chest.

While Oasis don’t have any tour dates in the calendar for 2026, speculation continues to mount that they will hit the road again in 2027. Additionally, there is a fly-on-the-wall documentary on their reunion, which is also in the works.

During an interview with Project Big Screen in February, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who is producing the project, lifted the lid on where they currently are in the process, sharing, “It’s phenomenal. We’ve got it down to four hours, so we’ve gotta get it down to (a shorter running time).”

Another prominent date in Oasis’ calendar is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on November 14th in Los Angeles, where they’ll be inducted alongside the likes of Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol and fellow Mancunian legends Joy Division/New Order.
