Noel Gallagher confirms he’s back in the studio and responds to Brit Awards victory

Noel Gallagher has confirmed he’s back in the studio and responded to winning ‘Songwriter of the Year’ at the Brit Awards.

Last week, it was confirmed that Gallagher would be awarded the special honour when the Brit Awards take place in Manchester at the end of this month.

While Gallagher had an unforgettable 2025 thanks to Oasis’ reunion, it wasn’t lost on him that it’s been two years since he last released new material.

“I’m in the studio now, I better put something out,” Gallagher explained when ‘Songwriter of the Year’ was brought up during an appearance on TalkSPORT on February 9th, before jokingly adding, “I’ve been shamed.”

Notably, this year, the ceremony will take place in Manchester at the Co-op Live, and Gallagher believes that this played a pivotal role in him being awarded ‘Songwriter of the Year’.

He shared, “If I’m being honest right, I just think they were desperate to get somebody from Oasis up there because it’s from Manchester… that’s what I think.”

Gallagher then revealed his shock reaction to the victory, sharing, “A call came through, and I was like ‘What? How can that be?’”

However, once it was explained to him about how the award was decided, Gallagher was more than happy to collect ‘Songwriter of the Year’, adding, “But as it’s all based on record sales, we did sell the most records. So you know, like I say, if anybody’s got a problem with it, I’ll be there. I’ll be on the red carpet.”

He humourously added, “If any of those wet wipes songwriting teams, all 11 of them, want to write a song between the lot of them, want to have it out on the red carpet, I’m there.”

Elsewhere, Noel seemingly confirmed that he’ll be attending the Carabao Cup final next month to watch Manchester City against Arsenal alongside his brother Liam, revealing when asked if Liam will appear at the Brits, “I haven’t, no. We’re just organising tickets for the Carabao Cup final today, but no, I haven’t spoke to him about that, no.”

In addition to Gallagher being in attendance at the Brits later this month to collect ‘Songwriter of the Year’, Mark Ronson will also be celebrated with the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ award.

Meanwhile, artists confirmed to play at the ceremony include Wolf Alice and Olivia Dean, as well as Harry Styles’ first live performance in almost three years.
