Mick Jagger is a fan of Geese: “Everyone’s talking about them”
The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has become the latest rock icon to give Geese his seal of approval.
Since the release of their fourth studio album, Getting Killed, in 2025, which saw them break through into the mainstream, make their Saturday Night Live debut, and sell-out huge shows across the world, they have earned many fans in high places.
Some of their more high-profile fans include Nick Cave, Jack White, and Courtney Love, but now they can add Jagger to the list, too.
In a new interview with GQ, Jagger was directly asked for his thoughts on the Brooklyn five-piece, to which he replied, “Geese, everyone’s talking about them. They’re very experimental, Geese, really. I mean, for a rock band. I quite like it.”
He then explained how the band surprised his expectations in a positive way, adding, “I heard all the talk about it, and as soon as the record, [Getting Killed], came out, I was expecting it to be more indie. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite that out there, but I admire that.”
In addition to sharing his admiration of Geese, Jagger also provided a further glimpse into the contemporary artists that he’s currently enjoying, singling out Rosalía as a personal favourite.
Jagger continued, “I mean, there’s also a lot of good women singers who have done great recently. Look at Rosalia’s album [Lux]. That was something really conceptual, really interesting. And she really pulled it off, and I really admire her for doing it.”
Speaking of new music, The Rolling Stones returned this week with two new singles, ‘Jealous Lover’, which features Steve Winwood and is accompanied by a music video starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton.
Additionally, they released ‘Divine Intervention’, which features none other than The Cure’s Robert Smith. On the huge chorus, Jagger sings, “Divine intervention is out of the question, I’m gonna dance in the flames, Cos’ divine intervention is out of the question.”
Both tracks are set to appear on The Rolling Stones’ new album, Foreign Tongues, which is set for release on July 10th. Ahead of the forthcoming album, The Rolling Stones have launched their new six-episode podcast, Speaking in Tongues, which provides the inside story of their new LP.
