Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno goes solo with new song ‘Favourites’
Kasabian’s very own Serge Pizzorno has announced plans to pursue a solo career and has collaborated with Little Simz on his new song ‘Favourites’.
With music and lyrics by Pizzorno and Little Simz, ‘Favourites’ is the first taste of a new side project and received its world premiere last night on Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record.
The S.L.P – as it is called – is a new project by Kasabian’s guitarist and songwriter. This debut solo album was created during a one-year hiatus from Kasabian and sees Pizzorno channel his artistic instinct to create an exciting and unexpected updated self-portrait.
“’Favourites’ is about identity in the digital age,” Pizzorno says. “I was interested in how online dating is a sort of snapshot of this identity crisis. Through the speed and structure of the song, I wanted to capture the feeling of the real you inside your head trying to get out and escape during a first date. It’s a dialogue between two people who are coming to terms with their true selves through their digital interaction becoming a physical one.”
As for Little Simz, Serge admits this hot UK rapper “completely blew me away”. He continues: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, make music with hip hop or grime artists.”
