Jorginho clears Chappell Roan of wrongdoing in security guard incident: “She had no knowledge”
Footballer Jorginho Frello has issued an update on the security guard incident involving his 11-year-old daughter, clearing Chappell Roan of any wrongdoing as “she had no knowledge” of the incident.
The Flamengo defensive midfielder took to Instagram on April 13th to share an update on the situation almost a month after it first took place, in which he accused a security guard of Roan’s of intimidating his wife and daughter at a hotel in Brazil, over the weekend of Lollapalooza festival, which the singer was headlining.
“I would like to give an update on what happened during Lolla weekend, as we have been seeing and hearing a lot over the past few weeks and felt it was important to clarify everything now that new information has come to light,” Jorginho said.
He continued: “I made my initial statement in the heat of the moment, after hearing that my child and wife had been approached by an adult male security guard in an intimidating way. I reacted as any father would. My priority is, and always will be, protecting my family, and that is exactly what I did.”
However, the footballer then clarified that Roan had reached out to his wife Catherine after making a video defending herself, and that each of their respective teams had also spoken to each other.
“It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them,” Jorginho added. “She was understanding and sympathetic to what had happened to our child.”
The former Arsenal player said he “regrets” the impact that the incident had on Roan as well as his wife and child, noting that the security guard involved was acting on behalf of another artist staying at the hotel.
This had been previously clarified by the bodyguard in question, Pascal Duvier, who said he took “full responsibility” over the handling of the situation.
Jorginho signed off his statement by saying, “I do not support or encourage hate speech or online attacks from any side,” before concluding: “As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed.”
