Hayley Williams opens up about Taylor Swift friendship: “So vocally supportive”

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has opened up about her friendship with Taylor Swift, praising her for her ongoing support in the industry.

Both hailing from Nashville, Williams and Swift have been long-time friends. Paramore were even the main support act for Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, which totalled 149 shows across a 21-month period between 2023 and 2024. It grossed over $2 billion in ticket sales and saw ten million people attend the concerts.

Speaking newly with The New York Times, Williams reflected on her involvement in this epic achievement, observing, “It felt like we got asked to be on the biggest tour in music history, because that’s what it was. It was unreal. We were exhausted when we got home.”

Williams, who recently collaborated on the Swift track ‘Castles Crumbling’, also shared, “She’s always been so vocally supportive of our band.”

She continued, “She’s also been the first person anytime we’ve been nominated or won a Grammy, I literally get a text from her before I get a text from my family.”

Taylor Swift released her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3rd. However, she has already confirmed that she doesn’t plan to tour the project. She shared, “I’m just gonna be really honest with you, I am so tired, like when I think about doing it again. Because I want to do it really well… again. You know?”

In the same interview, Williams revealed that the “racist country singer” she sings about in the titular track on her new album is Morgan Wallen. She shared, “It could be a couple, but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen, I don’t give a shit.” She also invited the ‘I’m The Problem’ singer to “meet me at Whole Foods, bitch – I don’t care.”

Far Out branded Williams’ new project, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, “an incredible hour-long project overflowing with unique lyricism and boundless energy.” She has also hinted that there may be more to come before the project is fully completed.
