Haim reveal cherished gift they received from Stevie Nicks

Haim have discussed their relationship with Stevie Nicks and revealed the beloved gift she gave each member of the band.

During a new interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, Haim was asked by the host to name their most treasured possession. Alana initially replied, “I think my mum got a guitar, a Yamaha nylon-stringed guitar, for her 13th birthday, and she kept it. It was the first guitar that we learned guitar on, it was this nylon-stringed guitar.”

“We are so bad at losing things, I feel like as a family we lose things all the time, I don’t know how she still has it,” she added.

Este then spoke about the special gift Nicks gave them, revealing: “We all got gifted necklaces from Stevie Nicks, it’s like a moon necklace and I don’t have it on for some reason, it’s in my purse, but I’m usually wearing it and I really treasure mine.”

When asked about their upcoming collaboration with the Fleetwood Mac singer, which Nicks recently hinted at, Haim remained tight-lipped and refused to give anything away, replying in unison, “Maybe, maybe”.

While Nicks confirmed she has worked with the group on a new song, she didn’t provide any details about the track. However, on her love of Haim, she shared: “It starts with Danielle’s voice. It is just stunning. She’s the first part of the puzzle, but then the percussion that Este and Alana wrap around her turn all of their songs into percussive masterpieces.”

Nicks also praised Haim for creating a unique sound that “is something that I have never heard before.” She went on to liken them to her own band, adding, “But coming from Mick Fleetwood’s great love of their kind of percussion, for me in a way, it’s like coming home. They could certainly all have been in Fleetwood Mac.”

Haim will release their new album, I Quit, on June 27th. They will embark on a UK arena tour later this year and have also been heavily rumoured to make a secret appearance at Glastonbury, which they addressed during the same interview.

When asked about their favourite stage at Glastonbury, Haim spoke about their love of The Park Stage, which has a TBA slot at 19:30pm to 20:30pm on June 28th. “We love The Park Stage,” Alana said. “The Park Stage is our favourite, ’cause that was like the first time we came to Glastonbury, we got to play The Park Stage. It felt like a movie.”

Significantly, Haim are set to play a one-off UK date on June 27th in Margate, which means they will be in the country for Glastonbury.
