Fontaines DC announce special Belfast show with Kneecap

Fontaines DC have announced they are set to play a special show in Belfast on August 29th alongside Kneecap.

The band revealed the news in a video posted to Instagram on April 22nd, playing their latest single ‘It’s Amazing to be Young’ while a figure dressed in a green boiler suit walked over a hill above the cityscape beneath them.

The gig will form part of the lineup for the Belfast Vital festival, hosted at the city’s Boucher Road Playing Fields. Sam Fender will also perform there with support from CMAT the previous night.

It comes as Fontaines DC are set to tour the UK this summer, with a headline show at London’s Finsbury Park on July 5th, Cardiff Castle on July 30th, as well as a Manchester show at Wythenshawe Park on August 15th, in which they will be joined by Kneecap at all the gigs.

Last week, the band released a deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed 2024 fourth studio album Romance, featuring previously unreleased tunes including ‘It’s Amazing to be Young’ in addition to ‘Before You I Just Forget’ and ‘Starburster/In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator Song)’, a piano medley combined with a song by David Lynch.

For the part of supporting act Kneecap, it comes as the Irish trio claimed that messages in support of the people of Palestine were censored in their set at Coachella 2025. However, they followed this up by posting evidence of the backdrops they displayed, which read: “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people.”

Tickets for Fontaines DC’s show at Belfast Vital go on sale on April 25th, with artist presale beginning on April 23rd.
