David Harbour refutes rumours of Millie Bobby Brown feud
David Harbour has responded to rumours that he was embroiled in a feud with his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown.
Last year, it was alleged in a report that Harbour was the subject of an internal inquiry after Brown filed a formal complaint in relation to “bullying and harassment” on set.
Then, it was later reported that things had been resolved between the actors, who played father and daughter on the hit Netflix show for a decade.
Brown also played down speculation about tension between the pair, telling Deadline, “David and I have a great relationship. We work really closely together in the scenes and in preparing for the scenes.”
The English actor added, “We’ve worked together for 10 years. I feel safe with everyone on that set. Naturally [we]’ve been doing it for so long.”
Harbour has kept his silence in relation to the reports of a fall-out, but has now finally spoken to Variety, describing the initial report as “a weird thing”, which he claimed, “came out in a weird way.”
He also alluded to him and Brown working together on “several” future projects, promising, “You’ll see more of me and Millie — 10 years wasn’t enough. There is a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.”
Similarly, for the same profile, Brown said, “When you work with someone for that many years, we could really push each other emotionally in scenes. Even though the series has ended, there’s still a lot of gratitude
Reflecting on their time working together, she added, “Getting to share that experience with him for so many years is something I’ll always remember and value.”
Harbour then likened their relationship to being family, explaining “you occasionally get in arguments, disagreements,” but “it’s OK because you’re just in a disagreement and then you come back together.”
In the same interview, Harbour spoke publicly for the first time about his ex-wife, Lily Allen, documenting the breakdown of their marriage on her latest album, West End Girl.
After describing the experience as “weird”, he shared, “I can’t really say that much more because it’s my private life. In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life — I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that.”
Harbour maintained, “Stories are complex. And that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience.”
