Lily Allen reveals ‘West End Girl’ could become a West End play

Lily Allen has revealed that her latest album, West End Girl, is in talks to be turned into a West End play.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on December 10th, the star discussed all things related to her recent release, which was a confessional expose about her broken-down marriage with Stranger Things actor, David Harbour.

Allen shared that she created the album in ten days, to which a talk-show host noted, “In London, they’re trying to make West End Girl into a play.”

The star coyly confirmed, “That’s true.” After which Fallon asked, “Are you involved with that?”

Mysteriously, Allen replied, “I might be,” before adding, “The ink is not dry—is that what they say? Something like that?”

The ‘Smile’ singer concluded, “But, you know, I’m definitely having some conversations with people about it. It’s very exciting.”

Allen has a history with the London stage, as she made her West End debut in the new play 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2021, for which she earned a nomination for the Olivier Awards for ‘Best Actress’.

She described the experience of landing the role in the album’s title track, ‘West End Girl’, where she sings of receiving a phone call: “And they were like, “Hey, you’ve got a lead in a play / You’ve gotta be back in London for rehearsals in May.”

Fittingly, Allen will be touring her new album extensively in 2026, and she will begin with a theatrical run in March, opening at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, where she will play the entire project in full.

Speaking on the upcoming tour, which she will also round out with plenty of arena dates, Allen shared on the show, “That’s why I came here, to sell tickets to my tour, but it’s sold out today.”
