Bono backs Bruce Springsteen amid Trump feud: “There’s only one Boss in America”

Bono is the latest in an impressive list of musicians to back Bruce Springsteen amid his ongoing feud with Donald Trump.

Springsteen began his European tour in Manchester at the Co-op Live on May 14th; At this first show, he condemned the Trump administration. Trump reacted to the news by slamming Springsteen on Truth Social, and threatening the musician: This dried out “prune” of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “standard fare.” Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

Days later, Trump announced plans to launch a “major investigation” into the singer’s support of the Democratic Party at the last election. Springsteen performed at two rallies in swing states last October. In another move, Trump posted a brutal meme which saw doctored footage of the President whacking the musician with a golf ball.

Many musicians, such as Robert Plant, Tom Morello and Neil Young, have shown public support for the ‘Born in the USA’ singer. Now, Bono has spoken up. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the musician was asked who he’s siding with in their pseudo-war. He responded: “There’s only one Boss in America.”

Bono has also fallen under the scrutiny of Donald Trump, who appears to be fixated on attacking classic musicians. This time, Trump attacked Bono online, threatening to launch an investigation into illegal campaign contributions. However, Bono is not an American citizen, and did not participate in the 2024 election.

Bono also recently addressed the conflict in the Middle East at the Ivor Novello awards. He declared: “Hamas release the hostages. Stop the war. Israel be released from Benjamin Netanyahu and far-right fundamentalists that twist your sacred texts. All of you protect our aid workers, they are the best of us.”

On May 27th, Springsteen delivered the same monologue he has been performing throughout his European tour, slamming the Trump government and calling for resistance to an America in crisis. He shows no sign of backing down.
