Donald Trump announces “major investigation” into Bruce Springsteen following on-stage comments
President Donald Trump has revealed plans to issue a “major investigation” into Bruce Springsteen over his support of Kamala Harris at the 2024 election, which saw him perform at two rallies.
Trump’s feud with Springsteen has ramped up excessively over the last week. It began when ‘The Boss’ played the Co-op Live in Manchester on May 14th and made a series of attacks against Trump’s regime during the concert.
His initial remarks included: “In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”
In response, Trump took to his Truth Social platform on May 16th to hit back at Springsteen and condemn the musician for criticising him while overseas, writing, “I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country.”
Trump then labelled Springsteen “dumb as a rock” for his support of President Joe Biden while he was in office before seemingly threatening the singer, adding, “This dried out “prune” of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “standard fare.” Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
On May 17th, Springsteen responded to Trump when he returned to the stage at the Co-op Live and stood firm, defiantly stating, “Things are happening right now that are altering the very nature of our country’s democracy, and they’re too important to ignore.”
“In my home, they’re persecuting people for their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. That’s happening now,” Springsteen continued. “In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death. That’s happening now. In my country, they’re taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers.”
Notably, last year, Springsteen performed at two rallies for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in Atlanta and Pennsylvania weeks before the election. He used the concert in Georgia to describe Trump as an “American tyrant.” Trump has now instructed an investigation into the rallies to see whether Springsteen and Beyoncé were paid to endorse the political party.
In a new update, he wrote on Truth Social in a post on May 19th: “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter.”
The politician continued: “Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment. In addition, this was a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. IT’S NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic “entertainers,” this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system.”
Trump signed off his message by writing, “Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!”
Springsteen will have the chance to respond to the investigation when he performs again at the Co-op Live in Manchester on May 20th.
