Donald Trump mocks Bruce Springsteen with new social media video amid feud

Donald Trump has taken to X to continue the feud between Bruce Springsteen and the President, this time opting to use a meme of sorts.

Trump’s feud with Springsteen has ramped up excessively over the last week. It began when ‘The Boss’ played the Co-op Live in Manchester on May 14th and attacked Trump’s regime during the concert.

In response, Trump took to Truth Social to rant about his hatred for the ‘Born in the USA’ singer. Most notably, he labelled Springsteen “dumb as a rock” for his support of President Joe Biden while he was in office before seemingly threatening the singer, adding, “This dried out “prune” of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just “standard fare.” Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

Trump has seemingly continued his threatening rhetoric in video format. In the posted clip, Trump takes a shot at a golf ball. This video is then stitched into a video of Springsteen falling over on stage. Someone, presumably on Trump’s team, edited the video to make it look like the ball flies from Trump’s club and lands on Springsteen’s back, causing the misstep.

In the background of the video, friends at the golfing scene can be heard clapping. “Nice shot!” someone praises Trump, a soundscape that continues into the footage of Springsteen falling on the stage and his bandmates looking on, shocked.

Trump’s first threat didn’t seem to bother Springsteen. On May 17th, Springsteen responded to Trump when he returned to the stage at the Co-op Live and stood firm, defiantly stating, “Things are happening right now that are altering the very nature of our country’s democracy, and they’re too important to ignore.”

Trump went on another tirade online, ending with the promise to “call for a major investigation into this matter.” However, fellow musicians like Neil Young and Pearl Jam have shown their solidarity with Springsteen at recent live performances.

This video, a baffling cultural artefact that sums up the digital moment, suggests that the feud remains rampant.
