Bon Jovi ends Madison Square Garden show abruptly due to vocal issues: “I’m letting you down”
Bon Jovi prematurely ended their show at Madison Square Garden last night (July 23rd) due to Jon Bon Jovi suffering from vocal issues.
The rock singer managed to make it through the first 14 songs of the set, performing hits such as ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’, and ‘It’s My Life’, before addressing the elephant in the room.
“I know I’m letting you down and it’s not like me to do that,” Bon Jovi admitted. “We’re gonna do one more song, and I’m gonna need you’re help. We might have to cool it because I’m fucking hurting.”
Then, with the assistance of Train’s Pat Monahan and the New York crowd, Bon Jovi found their way to deliver ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’.
Bon Jovi also told the crowd, “Don’t throw away your ticket stubs, I’m gonna figure something out, OK? Just hold onto it, we’ll figure out how to reschedule.”
Notably, the recent summer dates mark the first time that Bon Jovi have toured since their frontman underwent vocal surgery in 2022, which prevented them from playing shows in support of 2024’s Legendary.
Only last month, Bon Jovi said, “I’m fully recovered. It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith.”
Meanwhile, last year, at a press conference held at Wembley Stadium, the frontman opened up about his lengthy rehabilitation process, sharing that he had been rehearsing four nights a week for the last three-and-a-half years to “an audience of me and I” with the rest of the band joining him once a month, which has helped seal their grand return in 2026.
No further information regarding the rescheduled date has been confirmed, but Bon Jovi are set to return to Madison Square Garden on July 28th for the final show of their residency.
They will then have a short break before arriving in Scotland on August 28th, when they will perform in the United Kingdom for the first time since 2019 in Edinburgh, before moving on to Ireland for a date at Croke Park, Dublin, on August 30th.
Lastly, Bon Jovi will wrap up the Forever tour with three dates at London’s historic Wembley Stadium in September.
