Jon Bon Jovi said he never “lost faith” that he’d tour again following vocal surgery

At a press conference held at Wembley Stadium on October 24th, Jon Bon Jovi opened up about his lengthy battle to tour again after undergoing vocal surgery in 2022.

The Bon Jovi frontman was in conversation in front of members of the press, including Far Out, to celebrate the news that his band would be returning to the road in 2026, including a huge date at Wembley Stadium next September.

In addition to playing Wembley Stadium, Bon Jovi will play four nights at Madison Square Garden in New York, as well as the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Croke Park in Dublin.

It marks their first run of tour dates since 2022 due to Bon Jovi undergoing vocal surgery, which he discussed at length at the press conference, revealing, “I don’t think that I ever lost faith, but I had no idea that the recovery from this throat surgery was gonna be three and a half years. So it’s just been much longer than anticipated.”

The rock icon then praised his surgeon for doing “an incredible job” but revealed that he expected to have been able to tour their 2024 album, Legendary, upon release. He admitted, “As the record was coming out and we started to rehearse, I just wasn’t up to the standard that we’re accustomed to. There was no way that I would go. So I had to pull the plug, and therefore pull the plug on a very joyous record, one that I really wanted to go out and share.”

Bon Jovi then shared that he’s been rehearsing four nights a week for the last three-and-a-half years to “an audience of me and I” with the rest of the band joining him once a month, which has helped seal their grand return in 2026.

It wasn’t until a few months ago that Bon Jovi’s return finally looked like it was definitely set to happen, with the singer sharing in London, “It started to really pop through in the spring of this year, April or May. And then we played a big club in Nashville, and felt great about that.”

He also said that they shot eight songs for a television project in West Palm Beach, Florida, which will “come out soon,” which also gave him the confidence boost to come back.

Bon Jovi then thanked his bandmates, as well as fans, for standing by him during this difficult past few years, saying, “It was really incredible. My gratitude is deep for the band, the crew, you know, everybody that just was there through the process and just wouldn’t let me down and wouldn’t let me quit. And so it’s a deep gratitude that it’s here with the band, the crew, the fan base, because they understand that this is a tour of gratitude.”

General sale for the tour will take place on October 31st at 9am local time.
