Emily Ruuskanen was born and raised in Scotland and studied the piano at a music school until she was eighteen. Shortly afterwards, she began studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and it was while she was there, she decided to leave and finally pursue her lifelong dream of being a filmmaker. After moving to London to study film, she quickly fell in love with film journalism and creating video essays, and has since published pieces with various online film journals, as well as on her own YouTube channel.
