Tissues at the ready: Watch Hayley Williams and Noah Kahan duet weepy ‘Downfall’

There was not a dry eye in the building after Hayley Williams and Noah Kahan performed a surprise duet of Kahan’s hit, ‘Downfall’, together at a show in Nashville.

The Paramore singer has been making her way around North America on her first-ever solo tour. Williams has now landed in her hometown, Nashville, for three nights at the Ryman Auditorium.

Williams is only performing songs from her latest solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. However, ten songs into the final night in Nashville, Williams broke her rule and welcomed Kahan to the stage.

“Thank you, Hayley, you’re a legend,” Kahan said before performing a soothing rendition of the Great Divide highlight. After the delightful verse, Williams joined Kahan in the chorus.

“So call me when it goes to shit, I’ll be keepin’ the house the way it was, I won’t rub your face in it,” the pair sang together, with the ‘Misery Business’ singer taking the lower harmony.

Later in the show, Williams celebrated her homecoming with a cover of Nina Simone’s ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’.

Additionally, for the first song of her encore, she also debuted the song ‘DMs’, which was the first single released by her new project, Power Snatch. Her producer and other band member, Daniel James, joined her on stage with an acoustic guitar for a rendition of the grungey, shoegazey song.

Far Out deemed Williams’ new album “an incredible hour-long project overflowing with unique lyricism and boundless energy.”

Williams will continue on the North American tour through the whole of May, before she heads to the UK and Europe later this year.

The star also recently announced a huge performance at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on October 5th, as well as at Espaço Unimed in São Paulo, Brazil on November 12th.
