Violet Grohl shares debut single on Bandcamp

Violet Grohl, the eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, has released two debut tracks via Bandcamp.

Revealing the news over the weekend, Grohl wrote on Instagram that she was “beyond excited to finally share a little bit of what I’ve been working on over the last year.”

With this, the singer unveiled two tracks, the first being the single named ‘Thum’, and the second being a B-side, titled ‘Applefish’.

“I made these tracks with the most badass group of musicians, so happy they’re finally yours,” she added, marking her first solo foray into the music world.

It was reported almost a year ago that a debut album was seemingly in the works, but these songs are the first material to emerge from Grohl’s nascent musical career.

The 19-year-old has risen to prominence under the wing of her father and his band over the past number of years, most notably appearing on the song ‘Show Me How’ from the Foo Fighters’ 2023 album But Here We Are.

This led Grohl to making her debut appearance at Glastonbury Festival that summer, when her father’s band performed a surprise slot on the Pyramid Stage, billed under the pseudonym of The ChurnUps.

Both ‘Thum’ and ‘Applefish’ are available for digital download, although the seven-inch vinyl of the pair of tracks has already sold out.

Grohl later responded to this news on her Instagram Stories, thanking her fans by saying she is “over the moon” at the success of her debut songs.

Having most recently performed alongside her father during the reunion of the surviving Nirvana members at the Fire Aid concert in January, it is not known whether Grohl is set to embark on her own live dates or continue appearing with her family.

Last week, the Foo Fighters announced a special benefit concert to be held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on January 14th to raise money and donations for two homelessness charities within the local area. The date has been chosen to coincide with Dave Grohl’s birthday.
