Venice 2026: Here’s the full line-up for historic Italian film festival
Venice Film Festival has officially unveiled its jam-packed, star-studded line-up for the 83rd edition of the illustrious affair.
Venice’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, unveiled the lengthy line-up for the event, taking place from September 2nd to 12th.
Notably, in an offering heavily skewed by male directors, the competition includes new offerings by coveted filmmakers Martin McDonagh, Florian Zeller, Lee Chang-dong, Hirokazu Koreeda, Werner Herzog, May el-Toukhy and Casey Affleck.
This year, the affair will benefit from a dose of classic rock and roll, as it plays host to the world premiere of Oasis reunion documentary, Don’t Look Back in Anger, with both Liam and Noel Gallagher expected to attend.
One of the most exciting films included is McDonagh’s new dark comedy, Wild Horse Nine, which will be vying for the Golden Lion with an impressive cast including John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits and Parker Posey.
Previously announced, but no less exciting, the in-competition opener is Danny Boyle’s Ink starring Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch and Jack O’Connell as Larry Lamb, editor of British tabloid The Sun.
Other notable additions include Bucking Fastard, which marks the first time sisters Kate Mara and Rooney Mara will perform on screen together.
Additionally, Lance Oppenheim will share the A24-produced film Primetime starring Robert Pattinson and Phoebe Bridgers.
Elsewhere, Alex Gibney will unveil his Elon Musk documentary, Musk, described as an epic investigation behind the public persona of the controversial figure, while Maggie Gyllenhaal, who will preside over the jury, will be presenting an out-of-competition short titled Flesh.
