Two people killed and six injured due to mass shooting after music festival in Los Angeles

Two people were killed and six people were injured due to a mass shooting at an event in downtown Los Angeles following a major music festival.

Around 11pm local time on August 3rd, the police shut down a party held at a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles, held at the 1100 block of 14th Place, after a person, believed to be possibly armed with a gun, entered the building.

According to Los Angeles Police Department officer Norma Eisenman, the person was then arrested at the scene.

The Los Angeles Times states that on social media, the event was listed as an unofficial after-party for the Hard Summer festival, which took place next to the SoFi Stadium at Hollywood Park.

The official festival welcomed big names such as Barry Can’t Swim, Joy Orbison, Dom Dolla, Kaytranada, Overmono, Floating Points, Four Tet, I Hate Models, and Busta Rhymes over the course of the two-day event.

After the initial arrest at 11pm, officers were called back to the venue at 1am after reports of gunfire, and discovered eight people had been shot once they arrived at the after-party.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, the other seven were taken to the hospital, and tragically, a woman later died due to the injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Notably, the festival had four official after-parties spread around Los Angeles on August 3rd, none of which were held at the venue of the shooting.

Hard Summer is yet to comment on the incident.

This is a developing story.
