Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham take out cryptic billboard in Los Angeles

A new billboard featuring Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham has appeared on Sunset Billboard in Los Angeles.

The giant billboard, which was spotted by fans and uploaded to social media, suggests their 1973 album Buckingham Nicks is set for a reissue as it showcases the cover art along with the date of September 19th.

Notably, September 19th falls on a Friday, which is the day of the week that new albums and reissues are released. Since it was released more than 50 years ago, the album has never previously been released digitally or remastered.

The billboard comes after Buckingham and Nicks recently followed each other on Instagram, sparking intrigue about a possible reunion. Days later, they both began sharing lyrics from the Buckingham Nicks song ‘Frozen Love’ on social media, which caused speculation to explode.

Additionally, Mick Fleetwood posted a video of himself listening to ‘Frozen Love’ on Instagram, before taking his headphones off to express his sincerest fondness for the track. “Unbelievable,” he says in the clip

He added: “The marriage of Stevie and Lindsey, the marriage of coming into Fleetwood Mac when they did, it’s all in this song.” Fleetwood ended by saying, “It was magic then, it’s magic now,” he continued. “What a thrill.”

Due to Fleetwood’s video, many believed a return of Fleetwood Mac was a possible outcome; however, the new billboard seems to squash this idea.

Fleetwood has previously been outspoken about his hopes for Buckingham and Nicks to mend their relationship. He previously told Mojo that he wishes to see some “healing” between them, even if it doesn’t lead to a musical collaboration.

“It’s no secret, it’s no title-tattle that there is a brick wall there emotionally,” the drummer explained. “Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey. But I’ll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them – and that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily.”

Only last year, during an interview with Rolling Stone, Nicks stated that she saw no way back for her and Buckingham, stating that she “dealt” with the guitarist for “as long as I could” and that she gave him “more than 300 million chances.”

On the other hand, Buckingham has always kept the door open to a potential reunion with Nicks despite his messy exit from Fleetwood Mac in 2018.

During a conversation with Conan O’Brien on SiriusXM in 2024, Buckingham said of a possible return to the band, “In a heartbeat, absolutely. If there’s more to come [from Fleetwood Mac], if there’s a way to heal that, that would be great. It would be very appropriate to close on a more circular note.”

The guitarist also addressed his exit, stating, “Without pointing any fingers, it was certainly fairly singular in how it was driven. Others in the band were not happy with what was going on at that point. And I think everyone would have liked to see me remain, but did what they felt they had to do in that moment. And that’s understandable. There’s no fingers to point at anyone, really. That’s rock and roll, right?”

As of writing, Buckingham and Nicks are yet to confirm whether the billboard is related to a reissue of their 1973 album.
