Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Mick Fleetwood spark reunion rumours with cryptic posts
A string of cryptic social media posts by Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood have sparked rumours that something is brewing among the former members of Fleetwood Mac.
Nicks, who is due to embark on a solo tour of the US in August, took to X/Twitter on July 17th to share an image of black cursive text on a white background that reads: “And if you go forward…”, which is a line from the 1973 track by Buckingham Nicks, ‘Frozen Love’. Buckingham would follow suit only an hour later with his own post in the same style to complete the line with “I’ll meet you there”.
This has been reported in the past to be the song that got both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham recruited into Fleetwood Mac, with the duo first appearing on the self-titled album, Fleetwood Mac, in 1975.
This comes a day after Fleetwood posted a video of himself listening to ‘Frozen Love’ to Instagram, before taking his headphones off to express his sincerest fondness for the track. “Unbelievable,” he says in the video. “The marriage of Stevie and Lindsey, the marriage of coming into Fleetwood Mac when they did, it’s all in this song.”
“It was magic then, it’s magic now,” he continued. “What a thrill.” Approaching the 50th anniversary of the debut album featuring Nicks and Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac in August means fans are beginning to join the dots that an announcement may be forthcoming.
It seems more than coincidental that all parties would make posts referencing the same song within the space of 24 hours, which has led to speculation that a Buckingham Nicks reunion tour could be on the cards in the near future.
However, it was only last year that Nicks revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone the reasons behind her decades-long feud with Buckingham, and why he was removed from the band in 2010. “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” she told the publication. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”
Despite this, some eagle-eyed fans have spotted that Nicks and Buckingham liked Fleetwood’s Instagram post and that the duo are now following each other on the platform, something that was not the case until these recent developments.
Even if, as recently as 2024, there were no signs of Buckingham and Nicks ever reuniting on stage again, it would appear that something is brewing between them, and potentially also Fleetwood Mac, as the band gears up to celebrate 50 years since the UK release of Fleetwood Mac on August 1st.
