Tomorrowland detail “two possible scenarios” for festival following devastating fire

Belgian electronic festival Tomorrowland has detailed the “two possible scenarios” for the event following the fire that devastated the main stage area on July 16th.

The Orbyz caught fire yesterday evening (July 16th), but thankfully, the blaze caused no injuries. When the fire broke out, no festivalgoers had been allowed on site, and it was only festival staff who were on site, none of whom were harmed.

This morning, doors opened to the DreamVille campsite at 10:00, and the festival issued an initial statement mourning the loss of The Orbyz, writing, “This wasn’t just a stage. It was a living, breathing world.  From the very first sketch on a blank page, to countless hours of conceptual design, artistic collaboration, engineering, crafting, building, every single piece of Orbyz carried part of our soul.”

On a positive note, Tomorrowland conceded that while the stage has been lost, “we hold on to the magic Orbyz gave us” and “the dreams it carried”.

Now, in a new statement, Tomorrowland have said: “What we can confirm is that we will be able to welcome everyone tomorrow. Currently, there are two possible scenarios for Friday, July 18. We expect to have more clarity by tomorrow morning.”

Detailing the first scenario, Tomorrowland explained: “If the main stage area can be secured and a new setup completed, the festival grounds will open as planned for all visitors and all ticket types.”

The second scenario is more complex, and has several different measures that will need to be introduced. Tomorrowland state of scenario two: “If we are unable to open at full visitor capacity, DreamVille and the festival grounds will function as two separate areas on Friday to ensure the safety of all guests.”

In this scenario, the Gathering Stage at DreamVille will host the main stage artists originally scheduled for July 18th, and DreamVille visitors will not be able to access the festival grounds. Additionally, the festival grounds, apart from the main stage, will be open to all other visitors. In both scenarios, doors will be open to the festival at 14:00 rather than 12:00.

Tomorrowland concluded their update by saying: “Even in these challenging times, we will be able to offer a program for all visitors and ticket types. Starting Saturday, we expect the full festival grounds to be open to all visitors and all ticket types from 12:00 onwards.”

Alok, Martin Garrix, Axwell, Anyma, Charlotte de Witte, Nicky Romero, Fisher and David Guetta are a selection of the names who had been due to play The Orbyz this weekend.
