Tomorrowland issue fresh update amid fire to main stage
Tomorrowland have offered a new update after the Belgian festival‘s main stage, The Orbyz, caught fire on July 16th.
When the fire broke out, no festivalgoers were on site, and only festival employees were on the grounds at the time. Thankfully, nobody was injured by the massive blaze, and the festival is still scheduled to go ahead, albeit without The Orbyz.
The local fire rescue team were also quick to assist. Within an hour of the fixture catching fire, firefighters were already on the scene attempting to quell the flames. As a safety measure, they advised all local residents to shelter from the smoke by keeping all windows and doors shut.
Additionally, rescue workers were primarily concerned with preventing the fires from spreading to a nearby wooded area and succeeded in their mission. While the fire spread to many different areas, firefighters were able to put them out without any major complications.
Doors opened to the DreamVille campsite this morning (July 17th) at 10:00, and Tomorrowland have also confirmed that their All Global Journey activities are still scheduled to take place in Brussels and Antwerp today.
In a new statement, organisers reflected on the disastrous circumstances, mournfully writing, “It’s impossible to put into words what we’re feeling. The Orbyz Mainstage of Tomorrowland Belgium 2025, a creation born from pure passion, imagination, and dedication, is no more.”
They continued: “This wasn’t just a stage. It was a living, breathing world. From the very first sketch on a blank page, to countless hours of conceptual design, artistic collaboration, engineering, crafting, building, every single piece of Orbyz carried part of our soul.”
On a positive note, Tomorrowland said that while the stage has been lost, “we hold on to the magic Orbyz gave us” and “the dreams it carried”.
They added: “We spent the night working on possible solutions for the Mainstage area. No other parts of the festival venue, stages or areas were impacted.”
Huge names from the electronic music world such as Alok, Martin Garrix, Axwell, Anyma, Charlotte de Witte, Nicky Romero, Fisher and David Guetta had been due to play The Orbyz this weekend. More information is expected in regards to the acts who were lined-up to perform on the main stage.
