Tina Turner could be set for hologram resurrection after rights acquired by Pophouse

Pophouse Entertainment has acquired Tina Turner‘s name, image, and likeness rights, as well as the majority share of his music catalogue rights.

The company, co-founded by ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus, is also a founding investor in the ABBA Voyage experience in London, which is run by Aniara Ltd. It has generated over £2 billion for the UK economy since opening in May 2022.

Now, it appears that the company has revealed its next venture, though Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos has kept the company’s cards close to her chest.

As per The Independent, Koravos said that “one of the reasons that we were so interested in Tina is because she has such an incredible visual presence and such an incredible stage energy. And so, we’re very much looking at projects that can portray that and try to recreate that to some degree.”

Koravos added, “What we want to do is really help to consolidate her legacy. I think that Tina Turner is up there, or is going to be up there, with the Elvises and the Marilyn Monroes of the world.”

Whatever Pophouse is cooking up will be announced in the next six months. It is still speculation as to whether a digital Turner might grace a real stage in the foreseeable future.

The star passed away in 2023 at the age of 83 at her home in Switzerland following a long illness; she had previously undergone a kidney transplant in 2017.

Across her celebrated career, Turner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice (in 1991 and 2021, respectively) and won 12 Grammy Awards, including the coveted ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.

Turner isn’t the only artist that Pophouse is currently interested in. In 2024, Kiss sold their catalogue, brand name, and intellectual property to the company in a deal estimated to be worth around $300 million.

In 2024, Cyndi Lauper also entered into a partnership with the company after selling the majority share of her music to the Swedish organisation.
