Tina Fey and Wet Leg to feature on first-ever episode of ‘Saturday Night Live UK’

Tina Fey and Wet Leg are set to feature as the host and musical guest for the first-ever episode of Saturday Night Live UK.

The news was revealed on March 16th, ahead of the first episode airing on Sky on March 21st. SNL legend Fey is set to take the hosting reins for the inaugural episode of the sketch show made famous in the US, now transformed for a British audience.

Indie rock band Wet Leg are also set to serve as SNL UK’s first musical guests, coming off the back of the release of their album Moisturizer last year.

They will shortly head to the US to tour, beginning on April 15th in Pomona, California, before returning to the UK for a string of summer shows and festivals.

In addition to Fey and Wet Leg appearing on the first episode, it has also been revealed that actor Jamie Dornan will front the second episode with Wolf Alice, while Riz Ahmed will host the following week with musical guests Kasabian.

The cast for the show was announced last month, with 11 emerging comic talents from the UK being given a shot at the outlet that made the names of several US names, including the likes of Fey, Will Ferrell, and Jimmy Fallon.

The UK cast consists of Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.

SNL’s US showrunner, Lorne Michaels, is set to serve as the executive producer for the UK counterpart, while James Longman will be its lead producer.

Over on the Stateside show, Harry Styles did double duty as host and musical performer on its most recent episode on March 14th. During his monologue, the ‘Aperture’ singer addressed accusations of ‘queerbaiting’, as he said: “Back then, people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing, and some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting’.”

However, he then jokingly added: “But did it ever occur to you that maybe you don’t know everything about me, Dad!”, before caveating the claim with, “I ran it past him, he was fine with it.”
